Game 146 - a morning of checking the weather and twitter updates for fear of this being one of the many cancelled. Been looking forward to this for a while, a first for this ground on the hop and a chance to see Bo'ness on the road again closer to home.
THE GROUND
Really nice ground, another grass pitch, which held up really well considering the weather. An enclosure both sides of the pitch, one with the dugouts causing a slight obsturction, the other with a clear view.
As we entered, we noticed a sign that said, (cars parked in LUFC car park at own risk), assumed it was for theft etc. Upon entering the ground we quickly found out the real reason, balls flying over the fence and hitting the motors! livi were to blame today lol.
Main road is right next to the ground, one bad shot and you are rattling the Lothian 275 or some poor soul heading to work.
So many clubs benefited from Motherwell donating seats, Armadale Thistle and Whitburn Juniors have already put them to great use. Be interesting to see the improvements with them here at Station Park, love seeing all these clubs continue to grow.
THE PREDICTION
Bo'ness Athletic! couple of players still missing so we didn't expect a big margin, but went for a win.
DOWN TO THE ACTION!
Closer than I thought it would be with Fraser Currid called into action quite a bit, particularly in the first half. The Livingston goal which pulled it back to 2-1, came from a defensive error, which could be in part to the terrible turn of weather affecting the pitch, or simply the fact we need big Blair Woodburn back as soon as he is ready.
As mentioned, a difficult pitch that only got harder to play on when the weather turned for the worse in the second half. A massive hard fought 3 points for Bo'ness with two goals from Scott Sinclair. The first saw him use his strength to muscle the ball from the last defender, before slotting home 1 on 1. The second came via a deflection from a freekick from a decent bit out. Another freekick in the second half cannoned back out of the post, so close to a hat trick.
IN CLOSING
Always enjoy seeing a new ground with the wee boy, we met some lovely people who chatted away with Mason. Would always recommend local football to anyone feeling lonely, isolated or just struggling to meet new people, you always find someone for a banter at your local ground.
Another big win for Bo'ness Athletic as they continue to march towards the EoSFL Conference X title.
Turnstiles and Terraces - MAN OF THE MATCH
SCOTT SINCLAIR - Grabbed the points with his two goals today, a strong, hardworking, GOAL MACHINE!
EXTRAS
Since the qualifiers of the Scottish Cup this year, I have attended at least one game each round. This was the first round I missed getting to at least one game, but we couldn't miss the Athletic!
A comment aimed at all clubs, some do it brilliantly, some kinda do it.... but UPDATE YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA!! I think it should be a requirement when registering with the EoSFL, WoSFL etc
Not only is it a great way to connect to current fans and a chance to get new ones, but it provides valuable information for people who are attending. It is a necessity to let fans know when games are on or off, especially given travel etc.
Scottish football has alot to offer, let people know about it 👍
Addition to the Scottish Refereeing Hall of Shame - If the offside player doesn't interfere with play and the onside player is the one who recieves the ball......well we all get it, PLEASE LEARN THE OFFSIDE RULES. No actual Linesmen, but come on this was clear.
Scotty fouled whilst battling for everything and the ref...well...the less said the better
