First game of the New Year but not our first choice. Originally we were scheduled to head through Falkirk way to see one of the Bo'ness teams play, but both were cancelled due to covid (a sign of things to come). Thankfully the Thistle derby was just down the road and thankfully with the weather holding off we still had a game to attend.
THE GROUND
Volunteer Park is the home of Armadale Thistle, a great club with a very well maintained grass pitch. In fact there are lots of great aspects to Armadale and with a decent size regular crowd they have alot of potential to climb the leagues. It will be interesting to see exactly how far they can go and how much the club improves over the coming years.
They are also the home of the Donner pie, the missus was gutted we forgot to bring extra cash, it was the only reason I was able to convince her to go lol.
THE PREDICTION
Easy prediction, Armadale are class, Bathgate are having a bad season, we all predicted a big win for Armadale.
DOWN TO THE ACTION!
To be honest between the wee boy making wee friends to play with, being shattered and meeting new groundhoppers, of which there were many at this game, I never really saw the game quite as much as usual.
Alex Hastings did a cracking rundown on social media if you can find it online.
I did notice it was the second time I had seen the Bathgate GK miss judge the bounce of the ball (looping over him) , first time lead to a goal at Whitburn, this time he got away with it. (Full Fifa glitch mode)
The game was as expected, Armadale in control and when Bathgate did have their moments it always fizzled out in the final third. A couple of terrible corners seemed to sum up the lack of confidence and belief the team appear to have at the moment.
IN CLOSING
This league is arguably my favourite this season becuase of the teams in it, Bo'ness Athletic, Syngenta, Whitburn and Armadale are all class, with any one of them potential champions.
Armadale dominated this game and deserved the win, Bathgate having alot of work to do.
A first win on the groundhop for us this year, long may it continue 😁
This ended up one of Sams favourite games, as Mason found wee friends to play with, she ended up pretty much babysitting while the dads chatted and watched the game lol.
Found out during the game that tomorrows adventure to Edinburgh City Vs Albion Rovers was now cancelled due to covid fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu......
